Binds to H1 histamine receptors to prevent histamine binding.
Management of allergic disease and prevention and early treatment of anaphylaxis. Commonly used as premedication before transfusions and certain chemotherapeutic agents. Specific doses for dogs and cats have not been determined by pharmacokinetic studies. Use with caution in cases with urinary retention, angle- closure glaucoma and pyloroduodenal obstruction.
