Uncouples the excitation contraction process by preventing the release of calcium ions from the sarcoplasmic reticulum in striated muscle. As vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle are not primarily dependent on calcium release for contraction they are not usually affected.
Management of muscle spasms (e.g. urethral muscle spasm, tetanus). Prevention (oral) or treatment (i.v.) of malignant hyperthermia. Each vial should be reconstituted with 60 ml of water. Before administration the solution must be clear and without visible particles. The prepared solution must be protected from light and used within 6 hours.
