Lansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that irreversibly inhibits the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme system (proton pump) on the luminal surface of gastric parietal cells. This blocks the final step of acid production, resulting in potent and long-lasting suppression of gastric acid secretion.
Treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, esophagitis, Helicobacter-associated gastritis, gastrinoma (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome) in dogs and cats. Alternative PPI to omeprazole.
