Inhibits cytochrome P450-dependent synthesis of ergosterol in fungal cells causing increased cell wall permeability and allowing leakage of cellular contents. Miconazole has activity against Malassezia, Cryptococcus, Candida and Coccidioides.
Management of rapid or haemodynamically significant ventricular arrhythmias such as frequent complex ventricular premature complexes or ventricular tachycardia. Also proven to be effective in some dogs with supraventricular tachycardia due to the presence of an accessory conduction pathway (bypass tract). Often effective if there has been a response to i.v. lidocaine. Often given orally at the same time as beta-blockers, such as atenolol at 0.5–1 mg/kg q12–24h. Has been combined with sotalol in
