Trientine is a copper chelator used in the management of copper toxicosis and acts primarily to increase the urinary elimination of copper.
Treatment of dogs with copper hepatotoxicosis, especially those intolerant of penicillamine. Compared to penicillamine, it has greater affinity for plasma copper but reduced affinity for tissue copper.
