Feline dermatological reactions present as distinct patterns: miliary dermatitis, eosinophilic granuloma complex (indolent ulcer, eosinophilic plaque, eosinophilic granuloma), symmetrical alopecia, and head/neck pruritus. These patterns may result from flea allergy, food allergy, atopy, or ectoparasites.
Atopic dermatitis is the second most common allergic skin disease in dogs after flea allergy. Clinical signs include pruritus affecting face, ears, paws, axillae, and inguinal regions. Breed predisposition in West Highland White Terrier, Labrador, Golden Retriever, and French Bulldog.
