Feline psychogenic alopecia (overgrooming) should only be diagnosed after ruling out dermatological causes (allergies, dermatophytosis, ectoparasites). Intercat aggression is common in multi-cat households. Feliway (synthetic feline facial pheromone F3) may reduce stress-related behaviors.

Detailed history of behavior onset, triggers, frequency, duration, context, and previous treatments
Complete physical exam, CBC, chemistry, thyroid panel, urinalysis to exclude medical causes
Establish behavioral diagnosis, develop behavior modification plan, consider pharmacotherapy
