Potassium-sparing diuretic which inhibits sodium absorption in the distal tubule and collecting duct. It is a weak diuretic when used alone, so is almost always used in combination with a thiazide or furosemide.
Oedema or ascites due to liver or heart failure. Often added to more potent diuretics such as furosemide in cases of refractory heart failure. Doses have not been widely reported in the veterinary literature.
