Gamithromycin is a 15-membered semi-synthetic azalide (macrolide) that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. Has prolonged tissue concentrations due to extensive tissue distribution and slow release from pulmonary tissues.
Treatment and prevention of bovine respiratory disease (BRD) caused by Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Histophilus somni. Primarily a food animal drug.
