Feline glaucoma is usually secondary (uveitis, intraocular neoplasia). Iris melanosis may progress to diffuse iris melanoma and secondary glaucoma. Hypertensive retinopathy (retinal detachment, hyphema) is common in cats with CKD or hyperthyroidism — blood pressure monitoring is essential.
Canine glaucoma may be primary (breed-predisposed: Cocker Spaniel, Basset Hound) or secondary. Intraocular pressure > 25 mmHg requires immediate treatment. Corneal ulcers are common and indolent/SCCED ulcers are overrepresented in Boxers and other middle-aged dogs.
