Cefovecin is a 3rd-generation cephalosporin that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). It has an extended duration of action due to high protein binding (~98%) and slow renal elimination. A single injection provides therapeutic concentrations for 14 days.
Treatment of skin infections (wounds, abscesses) caused by susceptible bacteria in dogs and cats. Particularly useful when oral medication compliance is difficult.
