先天性脊柱與脊髓發育異常的統稱，包括脊髓裂 (myeloschisis)、脊膜膨出 (meningocele) 及脊髓脊膜膨出 (myelomeningocele)。胚胎期神經管閉合不全導致，Weimaraner 品種有遺傳傾向。
Manx 貓因尾椎缺失基因可伴隨脊柱裂。
Weimaraner 為最具遺傳傾向的品種。English Bulldog、Manx 相關品種亦有報告。

長期計畫：癲癇每 6 月抽血追蹤藥物濃度 + 肝功能
嚴格限制
嚴格限制活動 (cage rest / crate rest)，尤其 IVDD 術後
期間：IVDD 術後 6-8 週，癲癇穩定後可漸進恢復
取決於缺陷嚴重程度。輕微病例可維持可接受的生活品質。嚴重排尿/排便功能障礙者預後不良。Weimaraner 及 Manx 相關病例不應繁殖。
