Reduces intraocular pressure by reducing the rate of aqueous humour production by inhibiting the formation of bicarbonate ions within the ciliary body epithelium.
In the control of all types of glaucoma in dogs and cats, either alone or in combination with other topicals. Dorzolamide/timolol combination may be more effective in dogs than either drug alone. It may be less tolerated than brinzolamide because of its less physiological pH of 5.6. The concurrent use of a topical and a systemic carbonic anhydrase inhibitor is not beneficial as there is no additional decrease in intraocular pressure compared with either route alone.
